Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington Presents
The Second Annual Human Library Project

Join us on Tuesday, November 7, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm for our second annual Human Library Event. This event is free and open to the public. It will be held on the Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington main campus in Shreve Hall.

The Human Library Organization is a global movement working to build spaces in the community for personal dialogue about issues that are often difficult, challenging and stigmatizing. We publish people like open books on a given topic. Our readers ask questions and get answers from their "Book".

At the Human Library Project, the Books you check out are people. These Books have volunteered their time to share their stories and answer questions. Some of the stereotype categories represented include: Sexuality, Religion, Lifestyle, Health, Occupation, Ethnicity, Social Status, and Political Conviction.

So how does it work?

1. Show up at the event. Our Human Library Project event is free of charge and open to everyone.

2. Find a Book that looks interesting to you. We’ll have posters on display that give you an overview of each human book.

3. Have a conversation with your Book. New conversations start each half hour.

4. Check out another Book and repeat!

The Human Library is a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered.
